We hope that you enjoyed a relaxing holiday season and that you’re still celebrating the national championship! While we wish you could have joined us for the victory parade, we hope you will visit us in Ann Arbor in March. EVCCon, our community’s flagship event, is just around the corner, and we would love to see you there. Please see below for more details and for other upcoming events and updates.

1. Make Michigan EVC History: 2^nd Annual EVCCon, March 7-8

Picture this… 250+ Wolverines and colleagues, from founders and investors to LPs and Michigan’s finest new hire candidates, all under one roof…

Coming off the success of the inaugural event last April, we are making the 2^nd annual EVCCon even more dynamic and engaging, including presentations and panels from incredible speakers such as Semil Shah, Adrian Fenty, Kristina Simmons, Matt Taylor, Christiana DelloRusso, and many more. Check back on the event page to see the full speaker list and schedule released this week. Here’s a preview of what to expect during the conference:

• Thursday, March 7th, 5:30-7:30pm: reception for speakers and professional guests only

• Friday, March 8th, 10:00am-5:00pm: speakers and panels throughout the day, including startup pitches from UM student founders during lunch

• Friday, March 8th, 5:30-7:30pm: reception at the UM Museum of Art for all participants

2. Michigan Alumni and Student EVC Happy Hour in San Francisco, February 2

For those in the Bay Area, Michigan EVC will be hosting a networking happy hour on Friday, February 2 at Heartwood in San Francisco’s Financial District. Please join fellow Michigan alumni and 15+ current Ross MBA students who will be in SF visiting a series of VC firms as part of their recruiting journey. We hope to see you there!

3. Recent Event: Fireside Chat with Marell Evans of Exceptional Capital

Just before the holidays, Marell Evans, Founder and Managing Director of Exceptional Capital, returned to Ann Arbor to share his journey launching Exceptional with an audience of eager Ross students. Having recently closed the Miami-based firm’s first fund, Marell provided his fresh perspective on the fundraising process, seed investing, the B2B software space, and his prior experiences at SoftBank and Okta.

It was an honor to host Marell, a proud graduate of the University of Michigan and former linebacker on the football team, and we encourage you to get to know him yourself! If you are also interested in sharing your experience with our community, please reach out to our leadership team. We would love to host you, virtually or here in A2.

4. New Michigan EVC Talent Board: Connecting You with Top MBA Talent

Launched for the first time last quarter, the Michigan EVC Talent Board has already helped connect VCs and startups with current Ross students searching for mid-year, summer, and full-time employment opportunities. We’re proud of the interviews and internship offers it’s already helped facilitate and we’re eager for more. As you gain visibility into your staffing needs for 2024, we hope that you will explore this living document, use the filters to identify candidates with shared interests and goals, and help deepen the connection between Michigan alumni and Ross MBAs passionate about EVC.
